My new bedroom

I'm so excited right now! Why??

...Because I got the same bedding that Bella Swan has on her bed in the movie, Twilight!! It is from Target

They are sold out online but they had a few at my local target so I am assuming there are still some floating around. I slept with it last night for the first time, and it is incredibly comfortable! I am SUPER excited. I have been meaning to get my walls painted for a long time so I am going to paint them a really light grey/silver that has a touch of lavender and I think I am gonna have some glitter spray on it too.

When I get it all done I will post a picture of my room!

Queen Helene Mint Julep Masque

I absolutely adore face masks. Currently my favorite one is Lush's Mask of Magnaminty, which retails for $11.55 for the small size and $20.45 for the larger size. It smells and feels great, and is all natural so I feel organic using it. The biggest problem with it is that it is so fresh it only has a shelf life of 4 months. Now, this sounds like a long time, but I only do face masks about once every 2 weeks, so that is not long at all for so much product. Another problem? I have no lush store near me, which means i have to get it shipped, which means when it all comes down to it my mask really only has 3 months left by the time it gets to me. So even though I love this one, and will continue buying it, I am looking for an easier alternative.

I have heard a ton of good reviews about Queen Helene's Mask but I have never had time to try it out. This one is cheap ($3.99!), you can get it anywhere, and it has great reviews. Seems amazing right? I decided to try it out for the first time late last night when I got home from an 8 hour drive to my parents house. I was stressed out, and I thought the best thing would be a bubble bath and a face mask.

Initial thoughts?

Well, I put it on in the bath and my first thought was that I LOVED the smell! Its very minty, like toothpaste, but slightly sweeter. The perfect clay mask smell. It is also green which I like cause it makes me feel 1950s-ish. I let it dry for about 15 mins and could feel it tingling and getting deep into my pores. It felt great! After 15 mins I washed it off and immediatly my skin felt tight. So tight, that after my bath I had to slather it with face lotion, and again this morning when I woke up. At the end of the night tonight my face was greasy. Was it the mask? Probably not. It was probably all the lotion I put on BECAUSE of the mask. I had one stress pimple from finals week on my chin and it dried that up nicely.

Bottom line?

This still costs $3.99, and you can find it anywhere. It is well worth it. I do not have any major complaints, and actually LOVED the feeling. Will I switch over permanently from Lush's mask? Maybe not completely... but this is for sure a good alternative :)

What I am wearing on my nails right now

Trying to study but painting my nails instead. Right now I am wearing Sinful Colors nail polish in #87 Rose Diamond. This was a present from Wubearkitten off youtube and I believe she bought it from Walmart. The pictures are not that good because I am still trying to figure out my camera. I might need to invest in a new one for the purpose of this blog and youtube. Any suggestions for good cameras?

I tried to locate my lincoln park after dark by OPI but I could not find it anywhere and all 3 roomies said they did not have it. Who knows, maybe it ran away?

Here is my favorite eye combo currently. These change up all the time so this will be an ongoing thread every time I come up with a new "favorite".

I am wearing:
Rubenesque Paint Pot
All That Glitters on the lid
Antiqued in the crease/outer corner
Naked Pigment as a highlight
Raven Eye Kohl
Smokey Lash Mascara by Make up for ever
Underage Gloss

Everything is by Mac Cosmetics except the mascara

I think this look is very warm and wearable. It is very shimmery and girlie :)
Now off the the library to study for finals!

How to dress like an American college student

So I have noticed that college aged girls have a "look". This is pretty standard around the area I go to school, so if it does not look like ANYTHING how people dress where you go to school, then leave a comment and tell me what the trends are in other places! This is a typical "going to class" look:

Black Northface Denali Jacket

Black Leggings

Colored Scarf (my favorites red)

Ugg boots

Longchamp pilage bag for carrying books (again, I have the red one)

And any dark nail polish - I love OPI's Lincoln Park After Dark

I didn't really like this look when I first came to school here (styles are different in the south) but it is really growing on me! I'm really enjoying the longchamp bags :)

All That Glitters T-Shirt

I had about 8 subscribers message me on YouTube to tell me they had seen this shirt at forever21.com and that I needed it!! Well, needless to say, I totally agree!! I bought this yesterday, but I think it's cute for anyone! It's very bright and looks super comfy. It is $13.50 on forever21.com.

Days like this...

Don't you just love mornings when you wake up completely energized ready to take on the day? I sure do, and I don't feel like that often, lol. Today I went to all my classes, did 3 loads of laundry, did all the dishes (which have been piling up foreverrr), vacuumed the downstairs, made 4 videos (that's right, FOUR), and organized my closet. The only thing I didn't do was school work, which is typical because I clean to put off studying. I am completely convinced it was because I went to bed early last night completely relaxed (those candles, ya know?). I plan on doing it again tonight!! I love days like these :)

My New Love - Candles from Bath and Body Works

Recently I have become addicted to lighting candles around my room. They smell delicious and look nice, plus make you feel all girly. My favorite is to light them while I am reading before bed. I find them to be very soothing. My candle of choice? White Barn Candle Company. Currently I have Coconut Lime Verbena burning right now which smells lovely. I like the packaging on these candles as they look nice and with names like firewood and cinnamon bark, who WOULDN'T love these? Buy a couple and light them when you think of it... They are very relaxing :) These can be purchased at bathandbodyworks.com.

I also really like the wallflowers: they make the room smell nice without being overpowering like some wall air fresheners. The one I have plugged in right now is in coconut lim
e verbena as well.. I am not big on mixing scents. Very soothing... bedtime now :) Love you guys!

FAQ's

This part is incomplete - let me know what you want answered, leave a comment!

What inspired you to become a makeup guru?
In the summer of 2008 I came across a video by Lollipop26 (one of my FAVORITES!) and was intrigued by the whole beauty video review process. I started watching her and a few others, and became mildly obsessed. I was bored that summer so I thought, why not? I decided to put up my own video and I started to get subscribers! I just wanted to add my opinions and tricks into the huge world of YouTube, and am very humbled that anyone cares to keep up with me :)

Have you always been girly?
Yes!! Always always! I played in my mama's makeup when I was a tiny little thing - I always thought makeup was so fun. And I never really liked sports or getting dirty, although I do think that it is possible to like both.

Team Edward or Jacob?
Edward in the books, Jacob in the movies. LOVE Taylor :)

Were you home schooled in high school?
Nope! I went to regular school!

Overall Favorite brand?
That is so hard! Mac for color, like eyes/lips/cheeks, but Laura Mercier for skincare and foundation stuff!

How old are you?
21, 22 in May! When I started my YouTube the "21" in my user name was not because of my age.. I was 20 when I started lol!

What kind of music do you like?
I like a little bit of everything, but I do enjoy pop, hip hop, and country :)

Any advice for people wanting to get into YouTube/beauty reviews?
Just try! The hardest part is the first video, and actually putting yourself out there. Just do it! If you hate it, you can take it down and not tell anyone :) You never know, you might be the next big YouTube girl!

Where did you get your two paintings in your background?
The Paris one is from Ballard Designs but I bought it about a year ago so I'm not sure they would be available anymore. The pink one was hand painted by my neighbor.. so again, not really available. Sorry guys! I really adore paintings, I wish I could paint actually. I fell in love with the Paris one the moment I saw it... and I knew I had to have it. It's a happy looking painting.

What is that bright silver thing above your lamp?
A nail stuck in the wall, I had a picture there before I moved my furniture around this year.

Are you a natural blonde?
Yes. I add both lowlights and highlights to my hair to give it dimension, right now its a bit darker than my natural color.

Do you wear colored contacts?
Nope, and I never did! I wore clear ones up until a few days ago when I got LASIK surgery. Read about it here.

Who are your favorite youtubers to watch?
My sister, Juicystar07, thebubblegumprincess, lollipop26, xsparkage, michellephan, fafinettex3, EGheartsssc and like a ton more than I can't think of off the top of my head. I've met them all in person except for elise and erin.

What are your favorite places to shop?
Guess, Express, Bebe, Forever21, Abercrombie, and department stores.

Which TV series do you enjoy?
The Vampire Diaries, True Blood, The Tudors, Desperate Housewives, Keeping up with the Kardashians, The Hills, The City, Glee, Lost.

What's your favorite food EVER?
SUSHI!!!!

How do you deal with hater comments?
Hater comments are hard, but everyone gets them, and the bigger you are - the more you get! You just have to learn to tune it out and realize it stems from jealousy. Plus, for every 1 hater there are over 100 (or 1000) fans! It's not worth the time to stress over it.

Where did your username come from?
All That Glitters was my first ever eyeshadow from MAC, but that user name was taken, so I needed a number. I used 21 because I like the number. It was not my age at the time (I was 20) so it has nothing to do with that :)

What's your favortie kind of video to make? (tutorials, hauls, etc.)
All of them! But if I had to pick one... vlogs!

What is your major?
Communications/Law. Believe it or not, I have a serious side.

What kind of a cat is Bear?
Seal Point Himalayan - half Persian, half Siamese. I owned one before him and I will probably always own himmys, they are the best!

Can you speak a any other languge other than english?
No, although I took 4 semesters of French in college.

If you have any more FAQ's leave a comment below! I am blanking right now, lol!

About Me

Hey Everyone! I figured I would do a quick introduction for those of you that don't know me :)

My name is Elle, and I am most known for my YouTube channel,
Allthatglitters21. I am 21 years old, a senior in college, and I absolutely love all things girly. This blog will cover makeup, hair products, reviews, diet tips, beauty tricks - anything and everything that I feel like writing about.

As far as credentials go, I am self taught. I have never worked at a makeup counter or anything, but this is my passion and I love it! I was the beauty intern at Seventeen magazine last summer too, so I learned a lot of stuff there as well, as far as beauty journalism goes.

Feel free to follow my
twitter for my updates, and I hope you enjoy my blog!

xoxo,
Elle
